Where disciples are

The 2819 Institute is commissioned to equip Christ-centered scholars with a Biblical worldview committed to advancing the Gospel and multiplying disciples. Our scholars will be prepared to lead, create, and be deployed to spread the Good News and make an impact both domestically and abroad until all have heard.

Anchored by Matthew 28:19 and seven significant Pillars, we develop students into disciples through rich, biblically sound secondary education, forging and equipping them to impact marketplace industries. Through Christ-centered relationships, students grow spiritually to lead others to Jesus and give back to the world around them.

Our Pillars

  • Every disciple, within the body of Christ, must have the right perception of who God is through the wisdom of God, presented by the word of God. Having a biblical worldview presents the right perspective within discipleship and increases the spread of the gospel. There are five components that make up a biblical worldview: creation, the fall of man, redemption, consummation, and a new creation

  • Humanity was separated from God due to the original sin in the Garden of Eden, which brought brokenness, suffering, and spiritual death. In His mercy, God sent Jesus Christ to live without sin, die on the cross, and rise again, offering salvation and freedom from sin’s penalty. Those who accept this gift of grace through faith in Jesus are called to share the good news with others and live in reconciliation with God.

  • Ministry is the total submission to God’s purpose, where every believer is called to spread the gospel and make disciples in all areas of life. Each person is uniquely equipped by God to serve with love, using their gifts to reflect Christ’s transformative power and engage in service for His glory. Effective ministry strengthens both the believer's faith and the world around them, advancing God’s purpose and bringing hope and healing to those in need.

  • A disciple is committed to living in a way that is pleasing to God, engaging in a lifelong process of transformation through learning from Christ and spiritually mature believers, and then discipling others. Discipleship builds a Godly community, fostering relationships that nurture spiritual growth and help believers stay rooted in the Word of God, free from sin and deception. Through discipleship, believers mature in their faith, enduring trials with grace and bearing fruit as they obey and share the gospel with others.

  • This is a continual process of being made holy in heart, mind, and lifestyle. This is a daily process of pruning and purity to reflect a new creation. We must walk in repentance, die to self and submit our lives in obedience to the Scriptures in everything we do. The word "sanctification" literally means "to set apart for special use or purpose.”

  • Spiritual intimacy is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that produces fruit, preserves the earth, and dispels darkness, as we draw near to Him and He draws near to us. This closeness leads to heart purification and a renewed mind, as we abide in Him and discover our identity in Christ. In this relationship, Jesus is the vine, and we, as His branches, find strength and purpose in Him, longing for His presence to fulfill our deepest thirst.

  • Biblical literacy involves understanding and applying God's Word contextually in daily life, recognizing Scripture as divinely inspired for teaching, correction, and training in righteousness. It is essential for accurately discerning God's voice and being prepared to defend the hope within us. By deeply engaging with Scripture, Disciples of Christ align their lives with God's design, using the Bible as a moral compass and guide for decision-making.

Coursework

  • This course will serve as an introduction to the Bible. It will focus on the major stories of Scripture, e.g., creation, fall, Israel, Jesus, and the early church. A student successfully completing this course should be able to understand and share the major plotline of biblical revelation.

  • This course will focus on what Scripture says about the identity of Jesus of Nazareth as well as the implications of understanding who He is.

  • This course helps students become more competent in using Scripture in ways that enhance their ability to engage the life of the local church, be spiritual leaders in their families, and influence their workplaces as persons of faith.

  • Students explore how God uses Scripture, people, contexts, events, literature, and historical Christian disciplines to form and transform believers through the work of the Holy Spirit. The course also introduces principles of congregational formation.

  • In this final course, pursue one tangible outcome of a Biblical worldview in contemporary culture—namely, integration of their faith and calling in their projected vocation or place of service.
